NOTE:  This is a very special photograph. It shows behavior, habitat, and a closeup detail of the tail in hovering flight. A few hummingbirds, including this Snowcap, bathe by plunging into a shallow pool and immediately rising back up (perhaps a foot or so). This process is repeated as many as twenty times in a single visit to the pool.
